Take part in this year's Road Safety Week (November 5 - 11 2007)
Make a date in your diary and play your part in improving the safety of all road users.
Every day, nine people are killed and ten times as many are seriously injured on Britain's roads alone.
As a leading motoring organisation, safety on the roads is of great importance to us, which is why Green Flag feels compelled to support Brake in its campaign to reduce the number of road casualties and fatalities.
This is the seventh year running that Green Flag will sponsor Road Safety Week, supporting charity organisation Brake with a variety of activities throughout the week.
Here's your at-a-glance guide to the event.
What is Road Safety Week?

106 kids forming the number 106 (the number of children killed while walking or cycling in 2004)
Road Safety Week is an annual event organised by Brake and supported by schools, emergency services, local government and businesses, to promote safer driving and road safety skills.
What is this year's theme?
The theme this year is child pedestrian and cyclist safety. Brake aims to raise awareness about the horrifying number of children who are killed whilst out walking or cycling on Britain's roads, and urges drivers to slow down around schools and homes. Brake is also calling for measures to help protect children on foot and bikes.
Statistics reveal that a child is hurt or killed on UK roads every 16 minutes and children in deprived areas are five times more likely to be killed on foot. In 2005, 2197 children were killed or seriously injured on foot and 537 on bicycles.
What is Brake?
Brake is a road safety charity that aims to prevent road crashes through education, and relieve suffering of bereaved and seriously injured road crash victims through support services.
Road Safety Week is organised by Brake, the national road safety charity.
Visit the main Brake website, which is packed full of information about their work.
Where are events happening?
Events will be taking place all around the UK, why not hold your own or come along and show your support at launch events. Details to be confirmed.
How do I get involved in Road Safety Week 2007?

What happened in 2006?

National launch of Road Safety Week 2006 in Westminster, London.
In 2006, the theme of Road Safety Week was young driver safety. Statistics reveal that young drivers are more at risk of dying than any other age range of driver, often taking the lives of their young passengers with them. Only one-in-eight drivers in the UK is under 25 but this age group accounts for more than a quarter of all road deaths.
